“[…] Because it’s just such fun to create your own team, devise a complex plan, and then launch the perfect attack. There’s no greater praise for a remake!”

“Because the Plan & Go mode works, because there is a vast selection of mercs and weapons, and because I have been busy trying to liberate Arulco for weeks.”

Gamescom 2011 Previews:

GameStar Video, August 2011

PC Games, August 2011

  • „Overall Jagged Alliance: Back in Action makes a really good impression, but its modern approach and look could frighten off fans of the legendary predecessor. We particularly liked the action-timeline, as it allows us to tweak and devise perfectly executed attacks.“

GBase.ch, August 2011

  • „We were pretty amazed when the press report announcing the postponement of the game arrived in our inbox. We were all the more excited at the game presentation. After some difficulties at the start of the game, we were shown a familiar, beautiful Arulco, which we had first seen several years ago. The modern 3D engine is of course remarkable, and allows the island world to shine with a new brilliance.
Meanwhile, developers Coreplay have also gone to great pains to polish the somewhat dusty original game to a high shine. The actual game principle remains untouched apart from the new Plan & Go feature. Despite abandoning the classic turn-based combat, there are still enough of the original tactical elements of the game left. Various hit zones, a field of vision, lack of ammo and an active cloaking system ensures that you, the player will really have your work cut out before Arulco can return to the pleasant and sunny island state it once was. In any case, bitComposer Games is really back in business with this remake!“

Daily D-Pad, August 2011

  • „I more I saw of Jagged Alliance, the more the game grew on me. I had already played Frozen Synapse, but felt no particular urge to play the game for very long, and stopped fairly soon after starting. Embedded in a plot and a wider context, the combat system is certainly much more fun. Naturally, the multi-genre skill also wins you over with its sheer variety, and promises to keep boredom very much at bay. With 30-60 hours of gameplay for the first playthrough, there’s certainly a lot to do, but I can’t wait for more, and am eager to have a closer look when the game is released in Q1 2012.“

Zockwork Orange, August 2011

  • „Overall, this presentation reassured me; although I had already bid the series a long farewell after the first announcements, I now get the feeling that JAGGED ALLIANCE: BACK IN ACTION could be really fun again. We will of course have to wait for the end product, but in Q1 2012 we may once more get to love our mercs and cry our eyes out when Shadow, Gus and Ivan die in an ambush.“

4Players.de, August 2011

  • „First impression: satisfactory “although compared to the original, the game has been downsized or simplified to a certain extent, the game still offers enormous tactical depth.“

Gamingcore, August 2011

  • „It is questionable whether Jagged Alliance: Back in Action can really rival the 1999 classic, but this could be because, for the die-hard fans of the game, practically any modernization or changes to the weak points in the original would lead to the loss of the flair that is typical to the title. However, it is a good, contemporary alternative to the classic game, with superb visuals. The Plan & Go system may perhaps seem unfamiliar, but still deserves to be given a chance, particularly as it can generate the game events much more quickly and this, along with the other improvements, makes this a worthy remake.”First impression: good
